Friday Faves: Products we love and recipes to try

Every Friday, we’ll be sharing products we can’t live without in our kitchen and recipes we can’t wait to try.

Meet the Kuhn Rikon carbon steel knife. It’s the new knife on our block (knife block, that is), but after receiving it as a Christmas present from Kyle’s parents it has quickly become one of our fave knives. A very coveted spot indeed considering the amount of knives (and kitchen tools in general) we own. The thin blade allows you to achieve a more precise cut. As another added bonus, slices slide right off the blade since it’s covered in a nonstick coating.

These recipes totally had us going “ooooh, look at this” to each other throughout the week. And we can’t wait to try and taste them ourselves.

Kyle’s pick:
Domestic Fit’s Pesto Breakfast Tart
Why we can’t wait to try it: Bacon? Check. Sunny-side-up egg? Check. Pesto? Check. Three of our absolute favorite ingredients are in this perfect lazy Sunday brunch meal. Not to mention we have some homemade pesto we’ve been waiting for the right recipe to unfreeze and use this winter.

Lauren’s pick:
Pinch of Yum’s Light Garlic Shrimp Baked Penne
Why we can’t wait to try it: Since we love to cook for the week on Sundays, we love find great light oven-baked dishes to try, as they reheat well and stretch for several days throughout the week with the right salads and sides.

We decided to try both of these today as they seemed very good. The Tart was great! The only thing I did different was cook it long enough for the egg to cook through. Looking forward to trying the Penne tonight! Thanks for starting this blog. We plan to try lots of the recipes you post.
